The 2 day 2 night trip departs every Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 4:00pm from Airlie Beach. Every tour stays out in the whitsunday islands for 2 nights(half day, full day, half day) amd returns at approximately 2:00pm on the last day.Our tour starts at Airlie Beach. We stop &stay at Whitehaven Beach each tour – voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Further snorkeling, water sports and beach stops are made. A lot of the time will be spend on the boat, so we can cover the maximum possible area of the Whitsundays and snorkel at the best reef locations. The nights are also spend on the boat, safely anchored in calm bays.
Day 1:
Alright, no turning back now. The crew picks us up from the meeting point at Abel Point Marina, just a 10 minutes walk from the centre of Airlie Beach. They show us our beds: beautifully made with nice white linen, After a short briefing about water, power and toilet aboard boats we are off and sailing.
The sun is setting over the Whitsunday passage and we are having snacks. I am treating myself to a glass of wine. captain Luke explains we are to spend the night in Hook passage. And I am happy that the boat hardly rocks once we are anchored. Should be a pleasant night.
The other people aboard are all very nice. I am chatting away while the stars come out. And then it’s already dinner time - the food looks and tastes fabulous!
A couple of weary travellers have already retired to bed. The rest of us lie back on the huge net at the front of the boat and gaze at the stars of the southern sky. Im tired but its too beautiful to go to bed, hostess Isabelle hands me a pillow and I drift of to sleep on the deck.
Day two – morning
After a good night’s sleep we awake to the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Sweet, the breakfast buffet is already waiting for us. We tuck in, while the boat slowly heads out into the coral sea ,our first stop is Dumbell island.
Theres heaps of fish and beautiful corals are close to the surface, only the occasional lazy kick is required to propel me across this underwater paradise.
After morning tea, we hoist sails again. It is pretty windy now and the boats sailing fast. The two dutch guys are having a ball up the front as the waves splash over them. This is a touch extreme for my likings so I head for the protection of the aft lounge and have a chat with the captain about the fish i’ve just seen
Soon we are looking at Whitehaven Beach - kilometers of super white sand and the water is just soo turquoise. The crew hands us out the stand up paddle boards and after a short induction I am standing on it and doing it! It’s amazing, I can see rays and fish - the Stand Up Paddling is so much fun.
Day two- afternoon
Then it’s back to the boat where a great lunch is waiting to be eaten. Our crew explains the next adventure before us. We are to paddle the length of whitehaven beach!. The french couple opt for the transparent kayak. I choose the paddle board again and we cruise off with the wind and tide behind us, were paddling fast and in no time we are halfway down the beach. I saw a giant sea turtle pop his head up only metres before me , then 5 minutes later one swam right under my board. This was the highlight of my time in Australia.
Next thing its time for a walk up to the spectacular hill inlet lookout, this was nearly as good as my turtle experience. Amazingly we were the only group there, Luke said everybody goes there in the morning and he likes to do the opposite.
We are going back through Hook Passage to spend the night at a place called Stonehaven on the other side of Hook Island. We are having yummy spring rolls on the way while watching another beautiful sunset. Dinner this night is satay chicken.
Day three
Last day, so we get up a bit earlier today. Breakfast today with English muffins, yum! After sailing past the 5 star resort Hayman Island we snorkel at the other side of the island (Blue pearl Bay). I’ll take it easy this morning and snorkel from the aquaglider. That was a good decision as there were some friendly but huge fish. Then we went to a what looks likes a long beach lying in the water, called Langford Reef. We go for another snorkel and I even see a turtle swimming. It’s good to sit on the beach between snorkelling and taking in the scenery.
Then it is unfortunately time to head back to Airlie Beach. After having some beautiful rolls it’s sailing time again. When back in the marina, we are all sad to leave the boat. This is certainly a tour I would be happy to jump on again.

Sailing
Strap on your ‘sea leg’, as there is lots of sailing to be done. While On ice offers a more comfortable sailing experience than traditional monohulls, it is still fast enough to keep us with most of the “retired” whitsunday racing boats. Sit up at the front deck for maximum exposure and fun or help the crew man the cockpit in the back. The choice is yours.
Stand up Paddling-SUP
Stand up paddling allows a greater view of the natural environment than kayaking and there is no better way to explore the bays of the Whitsundays than on the latest boards. A great new water sport to explore the bays or simply paddle along Whitehaven beach. Our crew will give you an introduction and be your side while you do paddle along or catch small waves. Amazingly easy and fun.
Snorkeling
We will do at least 2 snorkel during each of our Whitsunday tours. While there is coral reef in many bays in the Whitsundays, we try to visit the most secluded bays with the highest volume of colorful coral and fish and the best visibility. As On Ice takes only 10 passengers, we are allowed to visit more bays than the “bigger” boats.
Aquaglider “lanal”
Our lazyvity toy, also called “reef lounge”, is simply fun! The aquaglider is a completely new concept in aquatic enjoyment. It is a large multi-purpose water sports platform-proved by our stealth sea scooter, if you like. Slide on for a rest and a spot of sun baking while snorkeling and let our crew point out the marine life.
Windsurfing
Windsufing connects your hands directly to the wind and your feet directly to the water. This is the most exciting and purest form of sailing. We carry equipment for beginners or advanced. If your up for it ask the crew to have a go.
Kayaking
Take your friend or paddle off along, our completely see through kayak lets you experience the marine life of the coral reef without getting into the water (getting wet might still occur). Get even closer to our fishy friends by lying down and looking through the plexiglass. Some call it the largest snorkel mask in the world!
Sea scooter/dive scooter
Not only handy when diving, but a great fun toy. Too lazy to paddle? The sea scooter will become your best friend. Use it just with yourself or to power the aquaglider around. Glide effortless through the water like James Bond. Your mission: Finding Nemo!
